The Character
The character of any man is usually described as one of two things: Very righteous and heroic or intentionally evil. If one was to ask Shiro about his morals and ethics as well as his political and social beliefs, they would probably get differing answers depending on the time they asked the warrior. Back in the days when he was still labouring as an arena champion, he might have had a certain set of ethics, morals, and priorities. After all, he decided to step in between the Roegadyn rogues and his today's wife for purely unselfish reasons. He didn't think about his own survival and rather wanted to make sure that the petite looking Au Ra survived the encounter without much regard for his own safety. Today, however, is an entirely different story. Considering that Shiro is now working for an aspiring criminal empire, ethics and morals are in a grey area at best. He discovered his rather ambitious love for socially and morally questionable methods and tasks, and he certainly doesn't fear killing a man if that is required. The only fixed priority he has is the safety of Saghani in which regard he will do anything necessary to keep her out of trouble and harm. And that includes a certain level of jealousy towards the people he cares for deeply.Aside from that, he is nonetheless quite the charming gentleman. He knows his way around the culinary world and enjoys cooking and sampling a great bit. He even enjoys sharing his knowledge by spoiling his beloved one with an expensive wine, a three-course meal, or even just a well-sorted picnic under the Shroud's nightly stars. He is compassionate, devoted, and self-sacrificing towards the people he cares for, but will display almost even cruel hatred towards anyone meaning harm. On the same tone, however, he might seem like a brute, but the intellect and intelligence he displays on a regular basis is quite outstanding. In fact, Shiro is a wonderful strategist and enjoys making up plans for whatever appropriate occasion. The warrior's more 'civil' life usually entails very plain and almost even boring activities. He enjoys collecting antique weapons such as axes and swords as well as Allagan or Sharlayan technology, star gazing, and observing nature's countless breath-taking moments. In summary, the Xaelan is quite a long story. From the once shameful and incredibly guilty boy, Shiro has grown to be a proud warrior and husband. His rather long and bothersome journey through the ranks of the arena slaughter and slavery has shaped his body and mind, and likewise prepared him for a life among the highest ranking criminals in Eorzea. Being the once most favoured and glorified womaniser in whole Ul'dah, Shiro firmly believes he has now experienced salvation at the side of Saghani and will do his utmost best to ensure both of their success.
